You have to make every engagement count if you want to win. Cities can be permanently razed and lords can permanently die. You can't fart around and do whatever because you will lose the war. It turns the game into a tactical strategy experience.
Last Days of the Third Age is a completely different experience. Pendor is amazing and you should play it. Honestly, there is no reason to play vanilla when you could play Bannerpage. There is no reason to play Floris when you could play Bannerpage. Bannerpage does everything Floris did, but better, prettier and more balanced with less time in loading screens.
